Anthony J. Zampa was born on February 26, 1978 in Napa, California
. A graduate of Vintage High School
, his first and foremost passion has always been racing cars. Going by “Joey” he started his racing career as an observer from an early age watching his fathers stock cars win races and championships.
At the age 10, with his father at his side, he started racing Quarter Midgets in Sacramento on the dirt and asphalt, winning “Rookie of the Year” honors at his home track 'Capital' as well as the Grand Nationals his first season. At age 16 he drove one season in an IMCA Modified at Placerville CA. Breaking from racing for a couple of years he and his father moved into Legends racing for four years winning three California championships, setting numerous track records and placing 4
th in the Nationals.
In 2000 he and his father decided that driving a NASCAR Late Model at Stockton 99 Speedway was the next step. And there he won “Rookie of the Year” honors and finishing an impressive 5th in the points.
After the one year at Stockton, Joey and his father decided to move into the highly competitive SRL Wild West Shoot Out series. His first year he finished 5th in points despite missing one race. As well as winning 2 main events and a trophy dash.
Despite loosing his father & crew chief Ron to cancer early in 2003 he and his team continue to improve, taking care of the car and gaining experience.
